Did Aristotle Fail in Physics? Full Paper
Here is the draft version of the full paper as a PDF.
Thank you so much for walking with me through this process of exploring Fr. Stanley Jaki’s claim that Aristotle had a “failure in physics.” I have been confused, perplexed, and frustrated, but that pushed me into new insights based on the thought of all three — Fr. Jaki, St. Thomas, and Aristotle. It’s so weird not just reading a science textbook and memorizing abstract realities line by line.
I have enjoyed using this space to work out ideas for research. You gave plenty of feedback and I took it all to heart. It was quite…organic! Oh wait…did I just impose an organismic world view onto the Substack data. No, I mustn’t.
To prove I did all this work, here is a picture of my books. As I write, they are stacked between my keyboard and computer screen, and I am literally peering over the top of them to see what I’m typing. Most of my books are digital, however, and maybe someday I’ll explain why I try to do digital as much as possible. Note: I have multiple copies of Jaki’s books, and the ones I use for research are falling apart. The others are safely stored on the bookshelf.
